Hi, I’m Jason Barnard. I’m going to talk about answer engine optimization today. I’ve been talking about it since 2018. This is one of the first things I found. A white paper I wrote with Trustpilot, and this webinar went along with it, AEO, the future of SEO. So answer engine optimization since early 2018. I then gave a talk in Paris, SEOCamp: Answer Engine Optimization, the one strategy that works for every brand. And interestingly enough, from 2018 to 2025, it’s still the same strategy, the Kalicube Process, and it still works. So I invented the Kalicube Process in 2015, started speaking about it in 2018 in the context of Answer Engine Optimization, and in 2025, it still works. And then I did this series of webinars with Anton Schulke from SEMrush. It was 16 episodes, starting with this one towards the end, autumn 2018. Now the question I really wanted to ask was not so much that, but do the answer engines remember this? And it’s really important because the answer engines like ChatGPT, like Google Learn About, are using the web as their source of information to answer the questions and solve the problems of their users. So I asked ChatGPT, here we go, who are the world’s leading experts in Answer Engine Optimization and however popular people are today, however much they talk about it today, it still puts me at the top because it knows I was there first. And then I ask Google LearnAbout. This is the ChatGPT killer. It gives you the answer. It gives you some context over there on the left-hand side. And as you can see, influential figures in AEO, I’m right there at the top, above Rand Fishkin and Marie Haynes. The machine remembers that in 2018, I was talking about it. I did a huge series on SEMrush. I did a white paper with Trustpilot. I wrote dozens and dozens of articles, webinars. I was out there talking about Answer Engine Optimization before it was a fad. And then you see over there on the left-hand side, identify key figures in companies in the AEO field, and we have Jason Barnard’s role. So what I find ironic or fun or delightful, whichever way you want to look at it is that the Answer Engines remember. And the Answer Engines are putting me at the forefront of Answer Engine Optimization, thanks to my foresight to start thinking about it way back in 2015, 2018. And obviously the world has changed since 2015, 2018, but our process still stays the same. It’s about controlling your brand narrative as a person or a corporation in Google and AI. Search and AI, Answer Engines, whatever you want to call it, are focusing on brand. Your brand is your single most important asset, and you owe it to yourself and you owe it to your business to nurture your brand in the minds and the algorithms of search and AI.
