The DSCRI-ARGDW is a ten-gate boolean pipeline - Discovered, Selected, Crawled, Rendered, Indexed, Annotated, Recruited, Grounded, Displayed, Won - through which all digital content passes before generating a commercial outcome. Two phases of five gates each: DSCRI (mechanical presence) and ARGDW (evaluative competition).

Jason Barnard developed the DSCRI-ARGDW as the complete processing pipeline every piece of digital content passes through before generating a commercial outcome. The pipeline evolved through three versions: DSCRI (5 stages, coined 2021), DSCRI-GDC (8 stages, Annotation combined with Indexing - used in published framework and arXiv paper), DSCRI-AGDC (9 stages, Annotation split from Indexing), and DSCRI-ARGDW (10 gates, February 2026 - Recruited added between Annotated and Grounded, Conversion renamed Won). Every algorithm - search engine, Knowledge Graph, AI assistant - depends on the same pipeline with different entry and exit points. Search engines skip Grounding. Knowledge Graphs serve structured facts directly. Assistive Engines perform Grounding via RAG. Miss a gate, lose everything downstream - this is Pipeline Attenuation. The pipeline maps to three audience phases: Bot Phase (D-S-C-R-I), Algorithm Phase (A-R-G), Person Phase (D-W). Patent 18 covers the full 10-gate boolean diagnostic framework.

The split between Indexed and Annotated represents a critical distinction: a page can be indexed but poorly annotated - stored but semantically misclassified. This is a separate failure mode from non-indexation and a separate optimization target. The pipeline serves three nested audiences: Bot (Discovered, Selected, Crawled, Rendered, Indexed), Algorithm (Annotated, Recruited, Grounded), Person (Displayed, Won). Three phases map to the UCD Framework: Bot Phase processes mechanically (can it find, fetch, read?), Algorithm Phase evaluates semantically (does it understand, trust, ground?), Person Phase converts commercially (does the user see, click, buy?).
