[00:00:33] Jason Barnard: I’m doing super well, Engel. Thank you very much. 

Why Did Jason Barnard Choose to Settle in the South of France?

[00:00:35] Engel Jones: That’s a group charger to connect with your, what part of the world are you in today? 

[00:00:40] Jason Barnard: I’m sitting in the south of France looking out the window and it’s sunny and delightful and right across from my house, I can see a few French people in bes drinking coffee and eating croissants.

[00:00:49] Engel Jones: Oh, how fun is that? How fun is that? What am I seeing? What am I seeing? I’m seeing the kids and curtains that my wife has up that isn’t pulled because the sun go against to me. But I’m in the Caribbean, so the sun’s really bright right now. 

[00:01:04] Jason Barnard: Yeah. You beat me on the sun front. 

[00:01:08] Engel Jones: So tell me your accent. It’s not a French accent though, if I’m not mistaken.

[00:01:13] Jason Barnard: No, it’s a very British accent. Born and brought up in the north of England. Moved to France when I was 22. Moved to Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, tropical island, a bit like the Caribbean, but the other side of the world. Lived there for 13 years, came back to France. So bit of an international life.

[00:01:31] Engel Jones: France seems to be your sweet spot. What brings you there? What are you doing over there? 

[00:01:38] Jason Barnard: I have a company called Kalicube® and we have mastered the art and science of manipulating Google and AI algorithms so that they represent Personal and Corporate brands the way that the companies and the people, the entrepreneurs, the CEOs, want them to.

[00:01:55] Jason Barnard: And I set up in the south of France because it’s a lovely place to live. There’s a great music scene, there’s great food, there’s lovely people, and it’s nice and warm and sunny most of the time. 

What’s the Meaning Behind the Name “Kalicube” and Its Logo?

[00:02:05] Engel Jones: Tell me the history behind the name Kalicube. 

[00:02:10] Jason Barnard: Kalicube. We wanted it to work in French and in English so Kali sounds to me in English like quality. And in French, quality, Kali, works and Cube is square, solid, reliable, works in French and English.

[00:02:26] Jason Barnard: So quality cube, well-organized, solid company that delivers quality services and products. And our logo is a Falcon, multicolored Falcon, so it flies over the world soaring high and it’s multicolored and exciting and fun. At the same time has been quality and solid. 

How Did Jason Barnard Merge Creativity with Data to Build a Profitable Career?

[00:02:50] Engel Jones: From what I’ve heard over the last few minutes of us speaking is there seems to be an intellectual side of you and a creative side of you that seems to mesh, or at least you’ve been able to find a melting pot of what then allows someone to exercise the opportunity of profit. If that is accurate like where, when did that come or surface it? When did it surface for you in your life for need to realize, yeah, this is the place I want to be.

[00:03:22] Jason Barnard: That’s a really insightful moment because you spotted that straight away and a lot of people don’t spot it. And you’ve asked a very delightful question is that I studied economics and statistical analysis at university and got my degree in economics and statistical analysis, so that’s very pragmatic and business and data.

[00:03:47] Jason Barnard: And then I went off and became a punk folk musician which is very creative and fun and delightful. And I toured 660 gigs touring around Europe. And then I moved to Mauritius to make TV series cartoons for children, which is also very creative. And through all of that, I actually owned the companies that were doing the music and creating the cartoons.

[00:04:14] Jason Barnard: And so the whole creative side came out but with the economic statistical analysis background, I came back to that business, statistical data, but with imagination that I developed over the years with the music and the cartoons. 

Exploring the Family Dynamics Behind Jason Barnard’s Creative Journey

[00:04:32] Engel Jones: Sounds like fun. Sounds like you’re having fun doing this. Is there a family dynamics that is affecting what you’re doing as well? I’m curious. 

[00:04:43] Jason Barnard: Ah! My ex-wife created the cartoons with me. I owned the company and we worked on the company together for 12-13 years. So the family dynamic was there. We had a child together and she’s now at Oxford University doing a PhD so she’s incredibly super smart. Now, my ex-wife is part of Kalicube and we’re immense friends and she does the design and the fun presentation stuff for Kalicube.

[00:05:13] Jason Barnard: And we work together still which is lovely. So I would say yes, even at Kalicube, that family aspect is still there. 

How CEOs Can Drive Revenue, Pivot Careers, and Build Lasting Legacies by Controlling Their Personal Brand Online

[00:05:19] Engel Jones: That’s amazing. So tell me how you bring value to the CEOs listening. 

[00:05:26] Jason Barnard: We found that we serve CEOs who look at their Personal Brand and understand that it drives revenue for their business today, that it facilitates their future career path and defines their legacy.

[00:05:43] Jason Barnard: Online is where we specialize. So if you need to drive revenue for your company and your Personal Brand has anything to do with that, i.e. somebody might Google the name of the CEO or the founder before doing business with the corporation. You need our services so that you look like you have the Google representation or the representation in ChatGPT that you truly deserve because they’re not going to get it right.

[00:06:10] Jason Barnard: They’re going to underestimate your value. They’re going to under represent you. So that will be driving revenue today. And I think that’s an important aspect of what we do is with the music I was sharing, with the cartoons for kids, I was sharing and I was educating, and now I want to share this and educate as well. [00:09:59] Engel Jones: Do you think you’ve had the opportunity to see many things, I would imagine and of course, with that data point, I’d love to know if you could leave a message for the future version of you listening to this five years from today. What’s a message you would leave for Jason? 

[00:10:20] Jason Barnard: Oh, thank you for that question. It comes at exactly a wonderful, delightful moment. It’s a message I gave myself about six months ago is stick to what I have understood is the purpose of what Kalicube and I are trying to achieve, and that is to share with the widest world possible the existential solution to mastering how Google, AI, ChatGPT, understand and represent you. Don’t lose sight of that because it is scary what’s happening with AI, and the thing you can do yourself today is take control for yourself and your corporation.

[00:11:10] Jason Barnard: And that I need to retain their aim to share that with the widest possible world and learn and be intentional about serving the people who are time core, money rich, who want and need me to help them? So make that differential between let’s give this to everybody and let’s just help the people who actually appreciate the need and can afford our help.
