What do Google and AI say about you when you’re not in the room?
You’ve heard the quote: “Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.”
Jeff Bezos said that.
Here’s the 2025 reality check:
Your personal brand is what Google and AI say about you when you’re not in the room.
And make no mistake—Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot are talking about you. They’re having trillions of conversations every day. They are having conversations with your future clients, investors, partners, team members…
The question is: what are they saying about you?
Are they introducing you as the go-to expert in your field?
Or are they ignoring you?
Here’s a typical conversation I have with business leaders
“Your personal brand is what Google and AI say about you when you’re not in the room.”
They usually stop, think, then say:
“Huh. I’ve never thought about it like that.”
And I can see everything shifts in their mind. So I follow up with the next question:
“Do you think you can control what AI and Google say about you?”
They generally shake of the head.
“Well… no. The algorithms decide.”
That’s when I smile and say:
“They do, but you can control them.”
Because you can take control. You can educate the machines so that they understand who you are, who you help, and why you’re the best solution. When you do, they start recommending you—in the moments that matter most.
And if you don’t?
Well, they’ll recommend someone else.
So let me ask you this:
What are Google and AI saying about you right now—and is it what you want them to say?
If the answer is anything short of “exactly what I need,” let’s fix that.
