The Relationship Between The Brand SERP Guy, Barnaby Barnard, Jason Barnard, Clio Barnard, and The Essex Serpent
Google has understood a very impressive series of relationships. It can get from The Brand SERP Guy to The Essex Serpent in three steps. Almost. It gets confused about the last relationship. But I think this article might fix that.
This is a nice game of Entity Association. A new game we can play with Google the child as it learns (as we teach it :)
Here’s the relationship of this imaginative leap Google has made from The Brand SERP Guy the (almost) The Essex Serpent in the Related Searches on the Personal Brand SERP:
So where does that relationship come from in Google’s “mind”? Here we go:
The Brand SERP Guy is Jason Barnard
Google has a good level of understanding about The Brand SERP Guy. Specifically that The Brand SERP Guy is a pseudonym for Jason Barnard. Using the Kalicube Pro Knowledge Graph Explorer, we see the relationship.
Jason Barnard is Clio Barnard’s Brother
Google understands that Clio Barnard and Jason Barnard are Siblings as shown in the People Also Search For:
Barnaby Barnard is Jason Barnard’s Brother
This is a little-known fact. Jason Barnard has a secret brother called Barnaby Barnard.
Clio Barnard is the Director of The Essex Serpent
Clio Barnard is my sister as well as a British director who recently made a British miniseries called The Essex Serpent. Here Google shows that in the Knowledge Panel for the Essex Serpent.
The Essex Serpent is a Series on Apple TV+
The Essex Serpent is a 2022 British gothic romance period drama miniseries based on the novel The Essex Serpent written by Sarah Perry. The series stars Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston in lead roles. It premiered on Apple TV+ on 13 May 2022 and currently has 1 season and 6 episodes.
Google Got the Last Part Wrong
It is showing the clothing line, a mechanical device and the meaning of the adjective serpentine rather than the TV Miniseries.
That Said, I Might Well Have Got this Wrong !
Of course, it is also VERY possible that I am just making a story that fits a narrative that I would love to be true, rather than a real three hop relationship Google thinks it has spotted.
It is possible (maybe even probable) that Google simply sees SERP and thinks it is a short name for Serpentine. Hope not.
The TV Miniseries came out in May 2022, and the Serpentine reference appeared in Related Searches in May 2022… so at worst, a curious and interesting coincidence :)
